uCarenet takes the protection of your personal information very seriously, and does not sell, or trade your Personal Information to third parties.

Our primary goal in collecting Personal Information is to provide you with great customer service and to customize the user experience.

It’s important to note that uCarenet complies with all Canadian requirements to protect personal identifiable information about you ("Personal Information").

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you about why we collect and how we use your personally identifiable information ("Personal Information").

uCarenet only collects, uses and discloses Personal Information that you supply in order to provide you with the services you have requested.

About The uCarenet Platform

We provide our visitors and members (collectively, You or Your) with a social network designed to connect in home caregivers with care seekers and their families looking for home care services.

uCarenet is an online venue for families (care seekers) and caregivers to connect with each other, arrange care, share information and advice. The information that you post to the Platform or submit using the Services may be shared with and used by other users and Site visitors.

ucarenet’s Platform enables people seeking non-medical, in-home personal care (the “Care Services”) to be connected with independent, third-party providers of Care Services ("Independent Caregivers"). The person receiving the Care Services (the “Care Seeker”) may be you or another person for whom you have the authority to order Care Services for, such as a parent or other relative.

Your use of uCarenet’s products, software, services and web sites (referred to collectively as the “Services”) is subject to these terms and conditions (the “Terms of Use”) and form a binding agreement between You and uCarenet. Please review the following terms carefully. uCarenet’s Terms of Use can be found here www.ucarenet.com/terms. By registering on the Site, you agree to accept the Terms of Use.

Definitions

“Caregivers” mean independent third party caregivers who are looking to promote their caregiving services through the Platform.

“Care Seekers” mean those who are seeking to find an independent third party Caregiver, either for themselves or for a family member for whom the care seekers has the authority to search, contract, and share information with independent third party caregivers for.

“Non Personal Information” is information that cannot be used to contact or identify you and is not linked to information that can be used to contact or identify you. It can include passively collected information about your activities on our Site, such as usage data, but only to the extent that information is not linked to your Personal Information.

“Personal Information” means information that can be used to contact or identify you and information that is linked to such information.

“Registered User or Member” mean individuals who register with ucarenet.com to use the Platform or Services.

“Services” means any services we offer through the Platform or any other channels.

“Platform or Site” means our website at uCarenet and any Canadian affiliated websites, web pages, mobile applications and mobile websites.

“You” or “Your” refers to you, as a visitor or Registered User or Member of the Platform or the Services.

The Type Of Information We Collect

We collect information from you and about you when you use our Platform and our Services (each defined below), when you communicate with us through the Platform, Facebook or any other social and online methods, when you communicate with other users/members of our Platform, and when other people communicate with us about you.

We collect this information in order to match you with care seekers or caregivers based on your inferred and/or expressed interests and/or needs, we use technologies (cookies, web beacons and other technologies) that leverage segment information (such as the type of care that you are interested in).

We use the Personal Information we collect about you in order to provide Services to Registered Users and Site visitors, and to improve our Platform and Services.

The following is the type of information we may collect.

In order to use some of the Services, you must register with ucarenet. If you register, you will be a “Registered User or Member”. When you do so, we will collect Personal Information. We will also collect Personal Information from you when you communicate with us for other purposes. The following sections tell you more about when and what we collect.

Information you provide us

We collect Personal Information that you provide to us when you register, post a job, post a profile, utilize mobile applications we may offer or otherwise provide on the Platform or communicate with us by phone, email or postal mail. If you provide Personal Information to us about other people, you represent and warrant to us that you have the right and authority to provide us with that Personal Information.

When registering

You can register with ucarenet.com in two ways. First, you can register directly through ucarenet.com. Second, you can register with uCarenet by connecting through Facebook’s and Twitter's application programming interface (API).

When you register directly through uCarenet, we will collect and store the information that you provide to us directly on our online registration forms. This may include, among other information, the following: your name, email address, postal code, city, gender, birthday and phone number.

When posting a job as a Care Seeker

If you are a Care Seeker, we collect and store all of the additional information that you provide to us on your job posting. This may include, among other information: the type of care you are looking for, schedule, location, hourly rate, narrative job description, requirements for a Caregiver (such as ability to drive); pictures; and any other information you choose to include in your job posting.

When posting a profile as a Caregiver

If you are a Caregiver, we collect and store all of the additional information that you provide to us in your profile. This may include, among other information: details on the care you offer, including for example the type of care you provide, your availability, your location, your level of education, languages you speak, your ability to drive; related services you provide; pictures; your phone numbers; references, if you choose to provide them; any other information you choose to include in your profile.

Information provided to the Independent Caregivers

You or the Recipient may provide information to the Independent Caregivers through our Platform, which will make it available to us.

Information provided by the Independent Caregivers

The Independent Caregivers will use the Platform to manage and communicate with you about the Care Services that they are providing, including by entering information about the Care Services and the recipient of the services into the ucarenet application and websites, which will make it available to us.

Otherwise through the Site or by telephone, email or postal mail

We may also collect Personal Information if you are a Registered User and post Personal Information on the Platform through other Platform features and offerings such as our online communications platform that certain Registered Users may use to communicate and share information with one another. If you are not a Registered User, we may collect Personal Information if you provide us with Personal Information through the Site, such as contact information. We may also collect Personal Information if you choose to provide us additional Personal Information by phone, email or postal mail.

Information provided by others

By Platform Visitors, Registered Users and others

We may also collect information that you, other users of the Platform and others provide about each other. For example, this occurs when Caregivers are rated or reviewed, when we obtain references on a Caregiver, when Registered Users communicate directly with each other, and when we receive information about Registered Users by phone, email or postal mail.

By third parties to verify your information, representations, and suitability for ucarenet

By using our Services, you agree that we may request verification checks using your Personal Information in accordance with our Terms of Use. If we perform verification checks, we perform them to verify the information you provide us (such as your name, address, email address, etc.), the representations and warranties you make in the Terms of Use and on the Site (such as representations regarding your criminal background), and your suitability for ucarenet. The results of these verification checks are made available to ucarenet.

We may use third party service providers to perform these verification checks. Our third party service providers may conduct verification checks against a variety of materials which, subject to applicable law, may include but not limited to media streams, criminal and fugitive watch lists, fraud watch lists, law enforcement reports, Police Reference Check Program (PRCP) criminal databases, Vulnerable Sector Screening Program, sex offender registries and other data to perform these verification checks.

By Facebook if you connect to ucarenet through Facebook

We also collect your Personal Information if you connect to us through Facebook or Twitter. What we collect depends on your privacy settings, Twitter's and Facebook’s API. The information we collect may include, among other things, your name, profile picture, email address, gender, birthday, location (i.e. city), names and pictures of your Facebook friends and other information you make publicly available via Facebook.

We also collect and combine information with your Personal Information from publicly available sources.

Technical and usage information

Log files, IP addresses and information about your computer and mobile device

uCarenet uses cookies, web beacons, embedded scripts and similar methods to collect information about how users use and interact with our services through our website and applications. Cookies can also be used to remember you and your preferences. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, in which case some of the features of our services may not function properly.

If you are interacting with our website or applications on a mobile device, your mobile carrier may automatically send us your device and hardware ID, device type, carrier, carrier user ID, the content of your request and basic usage statistics about your device and usage of our website or applications. We do not store this information or use it for any purpose. If you provide it to us or send us a message from your mobile device, we may also collect your phone number.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

This website is intended for use by persons over the age of 18. uCarenet does not seek to collect information about children under the age of 18. No information should be submitted to or posted on this website by users under 18 years of age. If you believe that we might have any information from a child under age 18, please contact us at privacy@ucarenet.com.

Accessing, Changing or Removing Your Personal Information and Closing Your Account

You may access, change, or remove Personal Information you provided when you registered by logging into your account and accessing your settings. You can remove some of the Personal Information you have posted on the Site, such as information you posted in profiles and job postings, by editing or deleting that item in the profile or jobs area of your account.

To access, change or remove Personal Information not accessible through your account settings, profiles and job postings, contact MemberServices at memberservices@ucarenet.com . In some cases, we may not be able to reasonably accommodate your request to remove your Personal Information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why. For example, we will not remove messages that you have sent to others through the Platform or the Services even if you close your account.

Personal Information that you post may have been captured and archived by search engines. This Personal Information (including job postings) may remain searchable on the Internet even after you or we delete it.

If you no longer wish to participate in our Services you may contact MemberServices at memberservices@ucarenet.com and request that your account be closed. If your ucarenet account is closed, we will remove your name and other Personal Information from our publicly viewable database. Please note that we may delete any or all of your account information, which includes Personal Information, without liability unless otherwise specifically provided by applicable law.

How We Protect Information

We implement administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect your Personal Information that is not otherwise visible to Site visitors. These include:

If you are a Registered User, you will be asked to create a password. You should create a strong password (one that uses letters and numbers or symbols and is not a dictionary word or name or includes information about you such as your date of birth or middle name). Please change your password frequently. If you access our Platform from a public computer, please ensure to fully log-out of the Platform and delete your browsing history and cache. If you access our Platform from your own computer, ensure that your computer is password protected.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may change any or all of the provisions in this Data Policy from time to time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat Personal Information by sending a notice to the email address registered in your account, or by placing a prominent notice on our Site, so that you can choose whether to continue using our Services. Significant changes will go into effect 30 days after we provide notice. Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately upon posting of the updated policy on our Site. You should periodically check ucarenet.com/privacy for updates. Your continued use of the Site or the Services after such effective date will constitute acceptance by you of such changes.
